ITANAGAR, May 16: Total 65 vehicles, mostly two wheeler were penalized during checking on Thursday and Rs13, 700 revenue was collected and tinted glasses were removed from about 100 vehicles.
The checking was conducted by a team led by district transport officer C Wangsu and the police at Lekhi village to check violation of traffic rules, as directed by Capital Complex DC Himanshu Gupta, who reiterated zero tolerance against traffic rules violators.
Giving the details, SP Tumme Amo said that a team led by Naharlagun PS OC Minli Geyi conducted MV checking at Yupia Tinali and penalized 121 violators to recover Rs 34, 000 as penalty.Such drive will continue in future, the DTO said.
However, plying of heavy vehicles have been banned as per DC order except school buses and IMC garbage trucks from Naharlagun to Itanagar and vice versa through NH-415 and Jollang road from 8 AM to 6 PM till further order. Parking of heavy motor vehicle along NH-415 between Itanagar and Naharlagun has also been banned.
Amo informed that operation against housie and other gambling activities were also conducted today wherein16 suspected places were raided, 9 shops selling housie tickets were raided and material including 3 mobile sets, 2 mini speakers, 1332 housie books(1,99,200 leafs) and cash of Rs 300 were seized and said that the checking will continue.
The Itanagar EAC Hengo Basar is also conducting checking of gambling activities including housie played through mobile and other gambling practices in various suspected areas of Itanagar. (DIPRO)
