NPP mourns killing of Aboh & 10 others, seeks security for leaders

ITANAGAR, May 22: The rank and file, state executive body members of Arunachal Pradesh NPP unit, were sadden by brutal killing of its sitting MLA Tirang Aboh, party general secretary Wangngoi Hakhun and nine others.

President Gicho Kabak, in an emergency meeting here on Wednesday in his presidential address, expressed deep shock and strongly condemned the ambush and killing of 11 innocent people, particularly Aboh, who was confident of his victory.

While conveying deep sense of condolences to the bereaved family members, the party leaders observed five-minute silence as a mark of tribute and prayed for the departed souls to rest in eternal peace and the victimized families to bear the irreparable losses.

“It is purely political murder as evident from the fact that insurgent group was engaged,” NPP vice president-cum- spokesperson Nima Sangey Saling said in a release.

Thus, the NPP urged state and central Govts to conduct operation against the insurgent groups immediately and the investigating police team to trace out Tirap political leaders involved with the militant groups for killing Aboh.

Referring to past killing of NPP supporters Jaley Anna and GB Bengia Tamang by rival party supporters during election campaign, the party termed it the first ever heinous crimes in state’s political history and urged the GoAP to provide sufficient security personnel to protect NPP MLA candidates and leaders as they are targeted by militant groups.

The party made a fervent plea to state people to extend full support to state police and para military forces during investigation and operation against the militant groups.
