In a first, Indian & Chinese Army jointly celebrate IYD

TEZPUR, June 21: In first of its kind along the LAC on the Eastern Border, total  70 personnel of Chinese Army and 30 civilians jointly took part in 5th International Yoga Day (IYD) celebration with Indian Army troops at Nathu La (Sikkim) and at Bumla and Wacha-Damai (Arunachal Pradesh) on Friday.

Participation of Chinese Army personnel in such an event during border personnel meeting will go a long way in promoting peace and tranquility along the borders, said defence PRO.

On the other hand, Eastern Command with an aim to promote better mental and physical health of people through yoga celebrated the Day, themed ‘Yoga for Heart’. A large number of troops, their families and local citizens from far flung areas of East and NE region took part to spread awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Various workshops were conducted  Eastern Command units at Kolkata, Dimapur, Shillong, Tezpur, Tenga, Missamari, Tawang, Sukna, Panagarh and all other military, he added.
