Rivers in swells, rains hit normal life | Falling tree hurts 1, damages 3 autos

PASIGHAT, July 11: Incessant rains for last few days have adversely affected normal life with water & electricity supply snapped, roads blocked by fallen trees and landslides while all rivers and rivulets have swollen up.

East Siang district administration has cautioned the East Siang people, especially those living in low lying areas to remain alert for flash flood and other natural calamities.

The Siang water level has not crossed danger level, ADC Tatdo Borang said, and urged people not to venture into the river and its bank.

Sukan Nolah, Siku, Sisar, Taratamak, Tolon Korong/Pagla rivers are in surge and are likely to cause more damages, if rain continued.

Meanwhile, a tall tree, a family of Cassia family, collapsed seriously injuring auto driver Bajong Pertin and completely damaging three auto-rickshaws of Bajong Pertin, Orik Megu and Gogom Tayeng at Mirmir Tin-ali here around 8.45 AM. Pertin was immediately rushed to Bakin Pertin General Hospital for treatment, according to auto stand leader Tayong Siram.

Laundryman Pawaru Prasad claimed that he had planted the tree some 36 years ago during August 1983 by collecting the sapling from forest department.
