Buguns celebrate Pham-Kho Sowai with gaiety

SINGCHUNG, Sept 10: Pham Kho Sowai, the main festival of Bugun community, was celebrated with great enthusiasm, traditional fervor and gaiety at general ground here amid huge gathering.

Kalaktang MLA Dorjee Wangdi Karma, speaking as chief guest, stressed on preservation of rich traditional diversity and cultural heritage which symbolize the identity of indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh. He exhorted all to maintain dignity among all sections of society as all festivals give the message for hard work with sincerity to lead a happy and prosperous life with communal harmony. Festival serve as a cementing factor to unite the society, he said.

Festival chief patron-cum-Thrizino MLA Kumsi Sidisaw, in his address, lauded the tribal culture, diversity and colourful attires of different tribes to reflect their identity. He, however, called for maintaining unity despite diversity of ethnicity. Festival also reminds about deep rooted culture and tradition which need to be preserved for posterity, he said.

Appreciating participation of all sections of people representing tribes and religions, Sidisow said such respect to Bogun community is laudable and exhorted all to maintain such relation for a peaceful coexistence.

Bomdila MLA Dongru Siongju and 5 Mountain Division commander Brig Pratap Malik address the gathering as guest of honour and special guest respectively followed by address of celebration committee chairman-cum-All Bugun Welfare Society chairman-Adu Khanam. The Bugun women in their best traditional attires performed folk dances to the tune melodious folk songs to befitting the occasion.
