ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Hailing teachings of great patriot saint Swami Vivekananda, Governor Brig. (Retd) B.D. Mishra has urged Vivekananda Kendra members to spread his teachings and message of national integration and unity to each and every school to motivate the younger generation to inculcate Swamiji’s values of life.
The VK members called on him at Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday coinciding with 50th year dedication of Vivekanada Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari to the nation. Citing examples of Sankaracharya and Swamiji, he said one’s life, even though short must be fruitful and meaningful for the society and the nation. He said that She was inspired by the working pattern of Ekhnathji Ranade and congratulated the VK on completion of 50 years and its good impact on visitors.
Advocating continuation of Swamiji’s teachings, which are more relevant in the present day scenario, he also suggested concerted efforts to strengthen the VKVs offering quality education in the state.
Highlighted history of Vivekananda Rock memorial and the obstacles in its construction faced by Ranade, said Vivekananda Kendra Arunachal Prant sanchalak Dr. Joram Begii and recalled its uniqueness – the only memorial in India for which 323 MPs had appealed for its construction in 1963; 30 lakh citizen, 1% of Indian adult population then had contributed Rs. 85 lakh by donating Rs one through coupons, almost all state Govts contributed Rs one lakh each during its construction (1964-70).
The Kendra, a spiritually oriented service mission, starting in 1972 has 1005 service activities across India. However, in Arunachal it is running 42 VKVs, Arun Jyoti projects, 41 anandalayas for school supportive activities, 63 balwadis for pre-primary schools, one BEd college, 3 vocational training centres in border areas, 2 KGBVs, Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture for Documentation, Ppreservation and Promotion of Culture and Tradition, V K Centre for Human Excellence, 20 Vivekanada Kendra branch centres, Dr Begi said, adding it is engaged in personality development of youth through Vijay Hi Vijay camps and VKV Alumni Associations coordinates all activities.
The team included prant pramukh Dr. Tejum Padu, sangathak Rupesh Mathur, vyavastha pramukh Taba Tatup, sampark pramukh P.G Dodum.
It was part of nationwide ‘Vivekanada Shila Smarak- Ek Bharat Vijayi Bharat’ launched on Sept 2 last with first meeting with President of India Ram Nath Kovind followed by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (PRO)
