Sona: Maintain tourist hub Mechuka Valley law & order

MECHUKA, Nov 09: Expressing grave concerns over reported law and order problems in this township, Speaker P D Sona on Saturday urged the administration and police to conduct regular night patrolling and take all law breakers to task to maintain reputation of Mechuka Valley as a major tourist hotspot.

Pointing out that absenteeism will no longer be tolerated; he cautioned GoAP officials that negligence to duties and responsibilities would be seriously dealt with. He took serious note of absenteeism of GoAP officials during a coordination meeting here and directed his Shi-Yomi district administration to issue show cause notices to all erring officers and officials.

Terming the Valley’s Pasang Sonam Tso (lake) as one of the important tourist attractions, he said it should be opened for visitors and urged the DA to take up the matter with the Army and ITBP. The lake is presently closed for visitors by the defense for security reasons

Exhorting the DA to prevent reckless dumping of trash in the township, he asked the ADC Bairo Sorum to impose fine against the violators.

He also assured post an ADC at Tato and a circle officer at Mechuka, to strengthen the administration. (PRO)
