South Asian Karate Championship | Arunachal team wins 7 medals

NAHARLAGUN, Nov 09: Arunachaleee karatekas continuing their winning spree won sevn medals (4 gold 2 silver and 1 bronze) in the 5th Cadet, Junior, Under 21 & Senior South Asian Karate Championship (SAKC) at Bangladesh capital Dhaka.

The winners are Anand Cheri (75-kg, junior Kumite), Doni Neri (67-kg, junior Kumite), Karasang Yanga (55-kg, senior Kumite) and Bahadur Ekke (57-kg, Cadet Kumitei) had won 3 gold and 1 silver medals on Friday.

On concluding day on Saturday, Johnny Mangkhiya (68-kg) won gold in senior female kumite & silver medal in senior female team kumite, Raja Yangfo (60-kg) won bronze medal in senior male team kumite.

Seven karatekas of Arunachal Karate-Do Association (AKDA) including Nani Leriak [55-kg, U-21 (iKumite)], escorted by Karate Association of India president Hanshi Likha Tara, Indian coach Shihan S. Deben Sharma, AKDA general secretary and technical official Buiang Marik had left here for Dhaka on Nov 4 last.

India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan and Sri-lanka karataekas took part in this three-day prestigious and historical event which had begun on Nov 7, Hanshi Tara told this daily over telephone.

The event was conducted under the guidance of South Asian Karate-Do Federation president Bharat Sharma & general secretary Md. Moazzem Hossain, Asian Karate Federation chairman S. Al Mansour RC, .Bangladesh Karate Federation president Dr. Md. Mozzaal Haque Khan & general secretary Kyaw Shwe Hla, he added.
