Hangpan Dada Memorial Football & Volleyball (boys & girls) Trophy ends

SEPPA, Jan 24: The curtain on two-week 4th State Level Under-18 Hangpan Dada Memorial Football & Volleyball (boys & girls) Trophy was drawn at General Ground here on Friday with Governor Brig (Retd) Dr. B D Mishra and Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

Football: Upper Subansiri defeated Anjaw by 2-1 goals in final football (boys) match to lift the Trophy while Kulin Raja was adjudged best player while Capital Complex girl team’s Giani Ramchang named best player. Both were given trophy.

Volleyball (boys): Yukar Tadum (Papumpare) and Mosing Yanang (Capital Complex) were awarded as best players.

Appreciating district administration and organizing committee for conducting the mega sports successfully, Dr Mishra lauded the players from different districts for maintaining sportsmanship spirit. “I am very much happy to know that girls team from different districts took part with great enthusiasm,” he said.

Recalling sacrifices of martyr Dada, he said that the youth are the strength of society and urged them to refrain from any anti-social activities, drugs and  gun cultures. Encouraging them to take up entrepreneurship, he said that the youth instead of looking only for Govt job should opt for start-up to offer jobs to others.

He urged the GoAP employees to maintain work culture by maintaining accountability, transparency for better governance to ensure all-round development.

“I am very much pleased that not a single untoward incident on the ground or outside took place during the tournament,” Natung said to appreciate those who made it possible.

On the tournament, he said that GoAP would set up a committee to select best players from such mega sports event to represent the state in national and international events. “Our Govt under the leadership of CM Pema Khandu is very much keen to support youths being the state future for which due importance is given to sports sector,” he said.

East Kameng DC Gaurav Singh Rajawat, sports & youth affairs secretary Ameya Abhyankar also spoke. The trophy had begun on started on  January 13 last.
