NAHARLAGUN, Jan 24: A 90-metre RCC bridge over Pachin River to connect Daath village in Juli area with Homi village on the other side as approved by the GoAP will be built soon at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore for which tender has been floated.
During an inspection of the area which boasts of Idu Mishmi Cultural Centre (IMCC) on the other side of the river on Friday, local resident Tarh Kama recalled that former chief minister Kalilkho Pul had announced the bridge after inspecting the spot.
It may be recalled that his daughter nine-year-old Tarh Peeju had watery grave there after saving her two friends being flown away by strong current on 16.05.17. CM Pul while visiting the grieving family members to console them had also assured the bridge would be named after her.
Moreover, late Peeju was conferred with coveted Bharat Award-2016 for her exemplary bravery by Govt of India as recommended by the state government.
The bridge would be a boon for Homi villagers, tourists and researchers intending to visit the IMCC, he reasoned.
