APCC to protest BJP’s attack on ST reservation

ITANAGAR, Feb 13: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to stage peaceful dharna at Tennis Court in Indira Gandhi Park here on February 15 next to protest against BJP’s unconstitutional stand & attacking reservation provisions for ST and other communities.

The NE states are predominantly inhabited by tribal people, but BJP has been systematically attacking reservation provisions for ST and other communities by its actions and statements and for many years reflecting its BJP Govt has shown true colour by claiming that “there is no fundamental right to claim reservation in appointments to public posts” and “there is no constitutional duty on the part of state Govt to provide reservations”, an APCC release said.

As it proves that the BJP & Sangh Parivar ideology is against reservations and various section of the society, the Congress is committed to protect rights of its indigenous people and raise its strong protest against this draconian move. It would also submit a memorandum to sate governor in this regard, the release added.
