Rituals performed to prevent COVID-19

AALO, Mar 25: West Siang civil societies on Wednesday decided to perform traditional ritual of Ali-Ternam at various locations to ward off pandemic COVID-19.

The mass ritual at district headquarters here begun Wednesday evening with priest Mogi Ori performing rituals in tune with his chanting and continue till Thursday wee hours. It is an initiative of ed by Aalo unit Galo Welfare Society and all movements without exemption would begin from 5pm on Thursday to 5pm of March 28. Five entry points at Gabu near Logum Jini, Patum near Biru, Piggo near Keak, Hill Geko near Nyorak and Essi Tamen will be sealed.

The encouraging trend in the rural areas is that People have become conscious and even not
allowing direct entry into the village to their kith and kin unless quarantined at Aalo where health facilities exist. The district administration led by DC Swetika Sachan has been closely monitoring while SP Jummar Basar leading a team imposing total shutdown in the field.

Thus, people of all walks of life have been urged to cooperate for successful conduct of the ritual.

Meanwhile, a team comprising magistrate, doctors and police screened 17 jail inmates and visited those who recently returned from outside and put under quarantined in isolation wards. However, there was no report of any symptom from any of them. (DIPRO)
