Army doctors removes rod from man’s abdomen

TAWANG, May 10: A 26-year-old man, who accidentally fell down resulting in a 20cmx16mm iron piercing into his lower abdomen, was rushed to Khandro Drowa Tsangmu district hospital here on Sunday and a team of Army doctors extricated the rod to save his life.

Khirmu’s Army field hospital’s surgeon Lt Col Ritesh Sharma assisted by anesthesiologists major Dr Ranjan Kumar & Dr. Ashish Pao supported by district hospital doctors and staff conducted the surgery, DMO Dr. Wangdi Lama said, adding despite lack of adequate imaging facility that helps to know the extent of damage caused. The surgery was successful due to bonhomie between the Army and the civil administration, he said while lauding army hospital commanding officer Col. Abir Gogoi for his humanitarian gesture.  (DIPRO)
