CHANGLANG, May 09: One self styled (SS) captain (political & revenue officer) of NSCN (Khango Konyak) outfit, Hangnang Pangtha, 31, was apprehended from Khimiyang during a joint operation on May 9 when police have been fighting three-front war – COVID-19 pandemic, insurgency and drug menace .
Pangtha was arrested by Khimiyang Police in connection with extortion activities in the name of the banned outfit from Khimiyang and Changlang town. His arrest has given a serious jolt to NSCN (KK) by completing ending extortion from Govt officials and general public.
The success was achieved by Arunachal Pradesh Police of Changlang district under guidance of DGP and IGP and active supervision of TCL DIGP Kime Kaming and Changlang Bn of 9th Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 25 sector.
Changlang district police commanded by SP Mihin Gambo have been effectively tackling the situations. While lockdown has been imposed strictly with help of local volunteers and masses; many important cases have been solved during last two months.
SS general secretary ENNG Tujan Rekhung, his accomplice SS lieutenant Arem Tangha in connection with abduction of a trader from Kharsang for ransom, arrest of two active ULFA (I) cadres SS Pvt Jahnu Boruah and SS pvt Chandrakanta Likharu from Longvi village under Nampong circle, SS sergeant Moshang Thamphang of NSCN(K), Rajapio (town commander) Chingmong Mamai NSCN (R) from Rangkatu village under Changlang circle have been arrested.
Changlang is among 12 districts known for drug menace but eight drug peddlers have been nabbed in five separate cases besides busting of inter-state drug peddlers along Margherita-Changlang road during lockdown period, according to an official release. (DIPRO)
