ITANAGAR, Jun 30: One Nangram Tapu, 34, working as security-cum-vigilance officer of Lekhi-based M/s SMS Smerlters Ltd has been arrested during investigation of case (No.25/2020) registered u/s 341/325/506 IPC was with Nirjuli police station on Monday.
Goyoloo News reporter Hofe Dada, 29, had filed an FIR that un unknown person of that factory had threatened him while he was doing Live News on Monday, PHQ PRO Dr Navdeep Brar said, adding .further investigation is on.
The attack and threatening against a journalist on duty has evoked condemnation from various quarters.
Saddened with the report, All Arunachal Pradesh Student’s Union (AAPSU) demand exemplary punishment to all those involved. The journalists despite lack of benefits have been working diligently against all hardships, who should be respected and freedom of the Press honoured, its president Hawa Bagang & GS Tobom Dai.
Taking note of constant attacks on Press and media person, the AAPSU, in a release, asked all to refrain from attack on the Fourth Estate. It demanded the GoAP, police in particular to take steps for safety and security of the press & media to prevent such attacks in future.
Why exhorting the civil society to raise voice against intimidation of passionate media persons, like Dada, Dream for United Arunachal (DUA), an NGO, said that such anti-social activities should not be tolerated for the sake of humanity.
Respect for honest and true journalism alone would facilitate growth of the Fourth Estate, the mirror of the society, DUA said in release, and demanded justice for him.
