NAHARLAGUN, Jun 30: National Doctor’s Day will be celebrated tomorrow by state branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) to extend gratitude to doctors for their dedicated services to the suffering humanity.
This day is dedicated to all medical professionals who work and serve patients round the clock to save lives, IMA said state honourary secretary Dr Jego Ori said, adding all frontline warriors fighting COVID-19 pandemic at the cost of their lives would be felicitated.
The state IMA branch set up in 2009 is headed by Dr Lobsang Tsetim with about 450 members now, Dr Ori added.
This Day is celebrated across India to honour the legendary physician-cum-second West Bengal Chief Minister Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, coinciding with his birth on this day in 1882 and death same date in 1962. Dr Roy was honoured with India’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna on 04.02.61. The celebration of the Doctors’ Day is an attempt to stress on the value of doctors in our lives and to offer them our respects by commemorating one of their greatest representatives. India has shown remarkable improvements in the medical field with relentless efforts by all doctors in achieving this goal against all odds.
