FIR against duo for spreading malice through facebook: SP

ITANAGAR, Aug 01: A case (No. 173/20 u/s 188/186/500/34 IPC R/W section 51 of Disaster Management Act, 2005) has been registered against Anand Chinte and Paul Topu (names in Facebook accounts) at Itanagar PS for deliberately labelled serious allegations  against doctors and frontline workers that demoralized their tempo.

A video footage which went viral in social media on Wednesday last allegedly made by the accused duo was seized based on a written FIR on Friday by ICR DMO Dr. Mandeep Perme and MO Dr Kabak Tamar, ICR DP Tumme Amo said.

Pointing out that the DMA Act, 2005 in force makes any misinformation/rumors and false claim that could mislead general public and derail the efforts in fighting against COVID-19 pandemic is an offense. Corona is invisible and even most developed & powerful country, like USA is not able to control it. Thus, all should unite to stop this killer virus by following the SOPs to prevent infections, the SP added.
