AALO, Oct 29: Newly-appointed chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB), Nyato Dukam, has asked the work agencies to deposit one percent cess through demand draft (DD) directly to the Board for the welfare measures of the labourers in the state.
This was disclosed in a meeting here on Thursday which was chaired by West Siang Deputy Commissioner (DC) Moki Loyi.
The fund available under the Board will now be decentralized by
placing the fund required for the district under respective DCs for speedy implementation.
He disclosed that statutory benefits including social security for the registered workers have been drastically increased. As per the revised rate, maternity benefit has been enhanced from existing Rs 1,000 to Rs 6,000, natural death benefit from Rs 15,000 to Rs two lakh, accidental death benefit from Rs 50,000 to Rs four lakh, besides fillip in medical aids and education benefits to labourers and their kids.
The spot assessment reveals that flight and problems of labourers are all alike everywhere, and he asked the respective DCs to locate land for taking up ‘labour shed’ for which fund will be allocated at any time and stressed on registration of labourers in the district through Labour Officer.
The DC said that land for Labour Shed will be tried through LR Department and registration drive and awareness to labourers will be done soon so that all get the equal benefit. DIPRO
