CSIR-Aroma Mission | Students urged to develop scientific temperament for nation building

NAHARLAGUN, Jan 21: Jorhat-based CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology director Dr G Narahari Sastry has exhorted students of G-Sector GSS here on Thursday to develop scientific temperament for nation building.

Addressing 60 SHG/NGO and student participants of a day-long ‘entrepreneur meet-cum-training on cultivation of medicinal and processing of aromatic plants at CSIR-NEIST branch here, he said that entrepreneurship development could play a very important role in utilization of natural resources as well as management and protection of biodiversity.

He also distributed books to the students, and said the event is conducted under CSIR-Aroma Mission.

Principal scientist Dr S.P. Saikia explained about the CSIR-Aroma Mission, CSIR-NEIST head (RPBD) Dr Jatin Kalita spoke about CSIR’s rural technologies and their importance for socio-economic development. It has tremendous scope for research & development, he added.

Prospective local entrepreneurs Tabu Dui (Rural Development Society president) and Tatung Tama shared their views followed by interaction, according to an official release.
