72nd R-Day celebration | Guv to hoist tricolor, address the people

ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Final touches are being given to state level celebration of 72nd Republic day celebration on January 26, said Capital region DC  Komkar Dulom, after conducting final dress rehearsal for all uniform contingents  at Indira Gandhi Park here on Sunday.

Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra would address the people after unfurling the tricolor at 9 AM, ceremonial march past, announcement of state award by the chief secretary followed by dispersal of parade, he said, adding SP Shivendu Bhusan would be parade commander and inspector Duyu Aago 2nd in command.

This year’s celebration would be low profile due to COVID-19 pandemic as only uniform contingents would take part but there would be no students’ teams, cultural presentation and any exhibition stalls, he said, adding 2,000 guests have been invited. However, the COVID-19 protocol – use of face mask and maintaining physical distancing – would be mandatory for all, he added.
