LIKABALI, Feb 24: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) in coordination with Galo Welfare Society (women wing) organized a day-long legal awareness programme here on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by APSCW vice chairperson Heyomai Towsik, Member Mabi Taipodia Jini, Local MLA Kardo Nyigyor, DC A K Singh, among others.
Former APSCW chairperson Jarjum Ete, Gynecologist from TRIIMS Dr Todak Taba, Karmu Chotten and Mabi Taipodia Jini attend as resources person to sensitize on various issues like marriage complicacies, women empowerment, gender budgeting , health and legal related issues.
Speaking on occasion the legislator said that drugs and alcoholism has became a menace for modern day society and further urged the women folk to be very vigil on the issue and control the children at their respective household levels.
“Parental care is the only remedy to check this growing menace,” he added.
The DC lauded the women panel for organizing the programme which would immensely help the women folk of the district in improving their status and quality of life. He further informed that through Malinithan Vikash Parishad the administration had constructed 25 rooms within the temple complex where 25 women have been allotted room to run shops.
“This step though small will certainly improve the life of women in days to come,” he said adding through State Rural Livelihood Mission many self help groups have been formed and he directed all HoDs to dove tail schemes to empower the women.
In her concluding speech expressed her gratitude to district administration in course of their weeklong awareness campaign and allout support of APWWS branches, GWS women wings team of Galo Welfare Society for their coordination and hard work in successful conduct of the legal awareness programme.
