Transfer Hollongi outpost’s control to Papumpare police: APPSU

ITANAGAR, Feb 23: The All Papum Poma Students’ Union (APPSU) in a memorandum submitted to Home and Boarder Affairs Minister Bamang Felix on Wednesday, demanded for shifting of Hollongi police outpost’s control from Itanagar police station to Balijan police station.

The students union in the memorandum stated that the shifting of Hollongi police outpost control from Itanagar to Balijan police station is required as the Hollongi area falls under the jurisdiction of Balijan police station but the outpost is under the control of Itanagar PS.

“Balijan police station is nearest to Hollongi, which is located on the inter-state boundary connecting Arunachal Pradesh and Assam,” the memorandum said.

“Since the population and market establishments of Hollongi area is increasing and many private companies are setting up in the area, there is every possibility of unwanted criminal activities. Several tea gardens and factory are also being established and the population of the area is also increasing drastically,” the memorandum pointed out.

The union added that the Balijan police station is nearest and easily accessible by the personnel of Hollongi check gate in case of any eventualities.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Hollongi police outpost are only engaged for checking of Inner Line Permit (ILP) and monitoring of goods vehicles’ entry and exit while the Balijan police station has to attend the law and order and other issues.

“It will be better to manage criminal activities if the control of the outpost is handed over to the Papumpare police which is only a matter of transfer of controlling power for better management,” the APPSU said.

The union further appealed the ministerr for a permanent police out-post at Sangdupota circle as the area is becoming an education hub with establishment of the Government Law college, National Institute of Technology, Television & Film institute, Entrepreneur development Institute, Government Women college and many more.

It also appealed for infrastructure development for Radhaso police outpost under Taraso Circle.
