75th I-Day: State readies for Amrut celebration

ITANAGAR, Mar 02: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on Tuesday attended a video conference convened by Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Union Home Secretary.

The meeting was convened by the Ministry of Home Affairs with all the chief secretaries of the states and union territories to discuss plans and programmes in connection with the celebration of Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.

On August 15, India will be celebrating its 75th Independence Day. The Centre launched Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav to commemorate the occasion with a timeline of 75 weeks prior to Independence Day 2022 and extending up to Independence Day 2023.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally launch the event on March 12.

The celebrations will begin on the launch day at DK Convention Hall here and at Kekar Monying in Siang district for its historical significance related to the freedom struggle.

Cycle rallies in Pasighat, Roing, and Tezu have been planned as a part of the celebration besides other activities such as painting competitions, cultural programmes, and exhibitions.

DGP R P Upadhyaya, Commissioner Home Kaling Tayeng, Secretary Art & Culture Remo Kamki, and Director Art & Culture Tamuna Messar were also present at the video conference with the chief secretary. (PRO)
