IMC Mayor receives jab, calls people to dispel fear

NAHARLAGUN, Mar 05: Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Tame Phassang received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Phassang said people should not create any confusion or have doubts on the Covid-19 vaccine.

“The vaccine is safe and secure. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union ministers and our own Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao have come forward and got themselves vaccinated,” he said while urging all not to be carried away by rumours about the side-effects of the vaccine.

Phassang appealed to all the field level and healthcare workers and age specific categories of people to come forward for the vaccination so that they stay healthy and protected from the deadly virus.

The Mayor on the occasion also appreciated the dedication of healthcare and other frontline workers for standing tall during the pandemic to keep everyone safe from the virus.

Itanagar Capital Region medical officer Dr M Perme said more than 3000 people have so far been vaccinated in Itanagar and no side effect has been reported yet.

“Mild fever after vaccination is a common phenomenon as it is to prove that the vaccine is working fine. We are always here for any kind of assistance if needed,” he said.

Besides Phassang, his mother Niyoni Phassang, IMC commissioner C Chukhu, Ward No 6 corporator Gyamar Taj, Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society president Gumri Ringu and People’s Party of Arunachal chairman Kamen Ringu took the first dose of Covid vaccine on the day.
