Nari-Koyu: Protest held for dist reorganisation

LIKABALI, Mar 05: The people under 36-Nari-Koyu assembly constituency organized a mass democratic protest demanding immediate implementation of Arunachal Pradesh District Reorganization Act 2013 here recently.

Lifting the status quo in Kora circle and to declare an appointed day for Lower Siang district as per Arunachal Pradesh District Reorganization Act 2013 were the other two demands of the people.

Around 300 people, under the united banner of Kora Circle Issue Joint Action Committee (KCIJAC), Ramle Banggo Welfare Society (RBWS), Ramle Banggo Youth Forum (RBYF), and Ramle Banggo Students Union (RBYF) participated in the protest on February 26 last.

The protest was to showcase the anguish over the inordinate delay in implementation of Lower Siang District Reorganization Act 2013.

The protest which started from Likabali police station culminated at the Lower Siang deputy commissioner’s office.

Meanwhile, the KCIJAC in a press statement has appealed to the state government to immediately work on the demands of the committee, failing to which they have threatened to launch a series of democratic protests in days to come.

The committee also informed that a memorandum has been submitted to the state government through the Lower Siang DC by Zilla Parishad Members (ZPM) on behalf of all the stakeholders.
