POSCO court convicts person for sexual assault on daughter

KHONSA, Mar 06: The special POSCO court here has convicted a person for sexual assault on his own daughter.

It was alleged that the convict used to reside with his two minor children as their mother expired a few years ago. During the fruitful night, when the minor victim aged about 13 years, was sleeping, the accused father forcefully disrobed her, to fulfill his carnal desire.

Hearing hue and cry, the elder brother of the victim, the person’s son, came to the rescue of his sister following which the father manhandled both and threatened them with dire consequences if they disclose the incident to anyone.

The next day the daughter and the son fled away from the house and lodged FIR at Deomali police station, as a result of which police arrested the culprit and charge sheet was framed against him.

The special on Friday expeditiously completed trial of the case and convicted him u/s 323-IPC and Sec 10 of POCSO Act and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for seven years and payment of fine.

The court has referred the matter to the District Legal Service Authority, for providing adequate compensation for rehabilitation of the victim under Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011. (DIPRO)
