Workers’ Board organises awareness camps

NIRJULI, Mar 06: The Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) with the aim to create awareness, has been organising sensitization porgramme in various parts of state for the welfare of the workers community, said its OSD Tadung Regia.

Rigia was addressing a day-long awareness programme Nikum Niya Hall here.

He said that the newly appointed Board Chairman has convened several meetings with various stake holders and streamlining various schemes and projects for the welfare of the workers community.

Several statutory and non statutory benefits have also been enhanced keeping in view the needs of the worker community, he said.

“Recently the Chairman conducted a mass awareness and health camp in Kamle district and today we have two awareness camp simultaneously at Namsai and Nirjuli. We have registered around 300 workers and even we offered spot registration to the workers to avail benefits of the Board and the government from time to time. We will continue with such awareness and health camp in various part of state so that maximum numbers of workers get the benefits,” he added.

All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) president Dana Tadu who also attended camp, spoke on various welfare schemes for the workers community and urged upon the Board authority to deliver the quality items to the workers community so that it could be used for a maximum period.

A Namsai report adds: The Board during the day also organised a mega awareness camp at Namsai.

Addressing the participants, Labour & Employment secretary Ajay Kumar Bisht called on the labour community of the district to get themselves registered with the Board to avail maximum benefits.

He also spoke about the process of registration.

Registering Officer Koj Kano said the present Board chairman cum MLA Nyato Dukom has soon after assuming the chair enhanced all statutory benefits for the greater interest of the labour community.

Kano said marriage assistance has been enhanced from Rs 5000 to 10,000, maternity benefits from 1000 to 6,000, normal death benefits from Rs 50,000 to 2,00,000, accidental death benefits from 1 lakh to 4 lakh and funeral assistance from 1000 to 10,000.

EAC Namsai Sange Wangmu assured all possible help to the labourers from the district administration.

Welfare kits were distributed to more than thousand workers of Namsai district on the day.
