BOMDILA, Sept 14: The first district-level Telecom Monitoring Committee meeting was organised at the West Kameng DC’s office here on Tuesday for strengthening the telecommunication service.
Chairing the meeting, DC Karma Leki urged all the telecom service providers (TSPs) to follow the government’s guidelines for granting Right of Way Telegraph Infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh Rule 2018.
“Internet communication is no longer a luxury. It has become a basic necessity for the overall development of society. During Covid-19 pandemic there were certain villages in the district where students could not attend their online classes because of either unavailability or poor internet service,” he said.
Leki asked all the TSPs to visit the unconnected areas for the immediate installation of telecom towers. “TSPs should not worry about the number of subscribers. Once they start providing quality service, subscribers will gradually increase,” he added.
Before the installation of towers, TSPs should coordinate with all the stakeholders concerned such as the Power department, PWD, etc., to place the towers at the correct place without disturbing others. All the necessary support will be provided by the district administration to connect each village of the district with an internet facility, Leki said.
Representatives of BSNL, Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone-Idea placed their issues before the district administration at the meeting.
