Fake sports certificate: SIT to interrogate candidates

ITANAGAR, Sep 14: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police will interrogate at least 13 candidates indulged in receiving fake sports certificates.

The development came after the arrest of Arunachal Taekwondo Association General Secretary Tara Tagin for his alleged involvement in issuing fake sports certificates to candidates applying for government job, police sources informed here on Tuesday.

A Summon has already been served to all those candidates and would be soon interrogated. Based on their statement, SIT would carry forward the case, the sources said.

Meanwhile SP (SIT) Rohit Rajbir Singh informed that as per the preliminary investigation, all of the candidates who have opted for the fake sports certificates are those who have applied for the post of Trained Graduate Teacher and Post Graduate Teacher under the education department from 2018 till date.

Accordingly based on the enquiry, the sports department has stopped publishing the results and issuing appointment letter to those candidates who have submitted the fake sports certificates despite being recruited earlier.

Currently Tagin who was arrested on September 8 last, is still under interrogation by the SIT. Till date he has not disclosed any other names but  accepted his involvement on the scam, the sources added.
