Mundayoor chosen for Dakshina-Ravunni Menon Award

ITANAGAR, Jan 20: Noted educational activist of Arunachal Pradesh Sathyanarayanan Mundayoor has been selected for prestigious Dakshina-Ravunni Menon Award-2021, instituted by Dakshina, a Chennai based cultural organisation, in memory of its founder Ravunni Menon.

The award, carrying cash prize of Rs.50,001, a citation and a sculpture, recognizes individuals and organisations who have rendered selfless service to the community.

Mundayoor, fondly known as Uncle Moosa inArunachal has dedicated his entire life for promoting library movement  after pioneering Lohit Youth Library Movement and set up several youth libraries in eastern  Arunachal to foster reading culture among the youth.  In recognition of his yeoman services, he was conferred Padma Shri in 2020.

Arunachal Pradesh unit of All India Malayalee Association (AIMA) and Kerala Kala Samskarika Vedi (KKSV), which had recommended his name for this national  award was pleased to learn from Mundayoor that he would use the cash award  for promoting reading activities in Arunachal, KKSV general secretary-cum- AIMA national AGS Praveen G said in a release.
