ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The 3F Oil Palm Pvt. Ltd (3FOPPL), a leading oil palm company in India, on Tuesday announced to invest Rs 250 crore to set up an integrated oil palm factory in Arunachal Pradesh, first of its kind in NE region.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for September 30 next at Lower Dibang Valley district HQs Roing. The company had acquired 120 acres of land for the project in February and all nec of the land were also obtained, said 3FOPPL CEO-cum- MD Sanjay Goenka.

The project includes a state-of-the-art oil palm factory (palm oil processing and refinery), a zero discharge effluent plant, a power plant based on palm waste, and other buildings and godowns for support functions. The addition of this factory would supplement existing company operations that include a nursery, area expansion/crop maintenance, FFB harvesting & collection and other ancillary farmer services.

The factory is set to be developed in two phases and phase-1 is expected to be commissioned in September 2023 and expected to generate local employment of over 300 people.

The company is a front runner and pioneer in the oil palm development programme in Arunachal Pradesh with total oil palm area under planting of around 2,000 hectares spread across the state involving 500 farmers. All area under oil palm is linked to satellites with 100% traceability.

The 3FOPPL is first in the state to import high quality hybrid variety imported seed sprouts from selected identified countries for the benefit of farmers. It is also first to be allotted a fertilizer distribution license for timely and cost effective supply to the farmers. These initiatives are expected to significantly boost farmers’ yields and promote ease of planting. With so many firsts and additional traction created by the factory, the 3FOPPL is expected to add 5000 hectare per year in next five years.

“We are very delighted and excited about the factory in Arunachal Pradesh. Since plantations are at a nascent stage, our factory will be running at extremely low capacity utilization. The primary reason for expediting this investment is to build farmer confidence to encourage them to take up large scale oil palm cultivation. Due to proactive leadership of state Govt and newly formulated NMEO (OP) policy, we believe that the state can be at the forefront of Prime Minister’s vision of Aatmanirbharta in edible oil production,” Goenka said.

The 3FOPPL has strong presence with contract plantations & factories in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat, besides has a very strong growth plan for NE region, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in particular.
