School textbooks to include State’s unsung heroes: Felix

ITANAGAR, Aug 30: Facts about unheard freedom fighters of the state would be included in the school textbooks soon, Home Minister Bamang Felix said at Dorjee Khandu Convention hall here on Tuesday after two films on unsung heroes of freedom struggle were screened.

School students should be acquainted with the role of ancestors, how they fought against the British during the freedom movement and sacrificed their life, he said.

The report of unsung heroes of the state based on inputs of various community based organisations is in being compiled and a film  would also be made after compilation of detailed documents, he informed.

He urged the people to watch television serial ‘Swaraj’ which would feature on every Sunday from 9 am to 10 am.

The screening of film Rani Abbakka Chowta, first Tuluva queen of Ullal of coastal Karnatak, who fought against the Portuguese in latter half of the 16th Century, evoke surprise from the audience.
