Campaign on gender-based discrimination held

AALO, Dec 17: A campaign on gender base discrimination ending gender-based violence was organized here on Saturday by Ubu-Pubu Anecluster level federation (CLF) and facilitated by BMMU Aalo (ArSRLM).

Before the meeting, a mass rally was organized from old Market Aalo to Gumin kiin participated by women from all walks of life.

The campaign which began on November 24 last, would end on December 23 next.

ZPC Babom Romin and social worker Jarjum Gamlin Ete graced the occasion.

DMO Dr Dubom Bagra while speaking as a resource person, dwelt on gender discrimination, gender equality, health and education of the women.

Another resource person SDO Mabi Taipodia spoke on gender equalities.

CDPO Bahi Koyu dwelt on Domestic Violence Act 2005, child marriage, women welfare schemes and programme under taken by government including, district hub for women empowerment, Nari Shakti Puraskar etc.

Gamlin told all about gender discrimination and highlighted the scopes of Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission ArSLM.

She appealed for discouraging male preference in the Galo society and equality of both the sexes should be traditionally accepted.

Romin spoke on discrimination wherein he urged the people to avoid the practice of discrimination.

He further appealed to the people to avoid Galo traditional Taboos. (DIPRO)
