ITANAGAR, Dec 17: As many as ten units of blood were collected during a day-long voluntary blood donation camp organised by the women and youth wings of state unit of National People’s Party (NPP), in collaboration with Arunachal Cancer Welfare Society (ACWS) at Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Science (TRIHMS), on Saturday.

Though the numbers of donors were low but the ACWS and NPP women & youth wings expressed gratitude to all the donors who turn up for blood donation, NPP women wing president Gyati Mini Bui said.

There are many cancer patients who required blood transfusion but due to insufficient blood they could not meet their needs, Gyati said.

“Many patients will die or suffer unnecessarily because they do not have access to safe blood transfusion. Therefore, the objective of holding blood donation drive is to provide timely availability of safe blood,” she added.

During the camp, volunteers from institutes such as Potential Caoching, Career & Centre, NPP workers and members of ACWS donated blood by sparing their valuable time.

The NPP and ACWS also appreciated the hospital’s management for making the blood donation drive successful.
