LEKHI, Mar 18: The AU FEST, an annual literary, cultural and games & sports event for the students of the Arunodaya University (AU) near here, concluded at the varsity campus on Saturday.
Itanagar Capital Complex SP Jimmy Chiram attended the valedictory function along with Dr Arun Kr Choudhary, Registrar of Venkateshwara Open University.
Addressing the students on the occasion, the SP exhorted them to learn as much skills as possible for a bright future.
He urged upon the students to play games and sports, stating that besides keeping oneself physically fit, it also teaches discipline and leadership skills.
Underscoring the role of youths in nation building, Chiram called upon the students to ‘have high ambitions, but moderate expectations and small needs’.
Dr Choudhary, in his address, asked the students to give priority to their studies, while channelizing their remaining energy in extracurricular activities.
On the occasion, Chiram and Choudhury also gave away the prizes to the winners of several literary, cultural and sports competitions.
Earlier, in his welcome address, AU Pro Chancellor Prof Dr VN Sharma highlighted the achievements of the students of the university in the field of academics, games & sports, NSS and other co-curricular activities.
Among others, AU director Dr Suresh Verma, registrar Sohan Kr Jha, liaison officer Tanya Nyadu, academic coordinator Pankaj Bora and other faculty members were present on the occasion.
