PASIGHAT, Mar 18: East Siang police arrested two drug peddlers on Saturday and recovered 48.74 gms of suspected heroine from their possession.
According to SP Sumit Kr Jha, based on specific information regarding sale of contraband by two persons staying in a hotel here, a team of police led by SDPO Pankaj Lamba and comprising Pasighat PS OC Inspector Otu Gao, Kari Pertin (SI) along with other police personnel conducted raid with the help of Sibut anti drugs team.
The team during search in the presence of executive magistrate Nancy Yirang recovered 48.74 gms of suspected heroine.
The arrested persons, both from Assam, were identified as Altab Hussain of Dibrugarh and Binod Sahan from Tinsukia.
All statutory formalities of NDPS Act was complied with seizure, packaging and drawing of sample was carried out in compliance with the act.
Subsequently, a FIR under NDPS Act has been registered at PS Pasighat. Further investigation is on to find backward and forward linkages and their other associates, the SP added. (DIPRO)
