BRO DG inspects works in Walong  border post

TEZU, Nov 27: With tense Indo-China border since Chinese People’s Liberation Army intruded into Ladakh, Border Roads Organization (BRO) Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Raghu Shrinivasan, in his maiden trip to this sensitive border state of Arunachal Pradesh, visited Walong and Changlagam sector in Anjaw district on on Sunday.

After inspecting ongoing works, the DG directed those working in the ground for early completion of strategically important roads for smooth movement and logistic support to the Armed Forces.

The general officer-commanding of 2 Mountains Division met the DG in Walong sector and discussed the planning and executing problems confronted by the troops and requirement of infrastructure development in this region.

Earlier, the DG was welcomed at Tezu by  Dimwe-based 48th BRTF, under Project Udayak, chief engineer Rajiv Sharma, commandant 48th BRTF, Lohitpur-based 181 Mountain Brigade commanding officer Brigadier Arun Awasty, Arunachal Pradesh Mineral Development & Trading Cooperation Limited chairman Dr Mohesh Chai Chai and local public leaders.

Lt General Srinivasan took over charge as 28th DG of BRO on September 30 last following superannuation of sitting incumbent Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry. Prior to his appointment, he held various charges, including as Pune-based College of Military Engineering commandant. He is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He was commissioned into Corps of Engineers in 1987.
