Drug abuse by youth concerning | Guv urges masses to eradicate the menace

ITANAGAR, Dec 29: Governor Lt. General (Retd) K T Parnaik, addressing public meetings at Vijoynagar, Gandhigram and Miao on Friday, expressed deep concern over drug addiction among youth and urged the masses, particularly SHGs and faith centres, to make all out efforts to eradicate the menace.

Parnaik, on a two-day tour to Changlang district to reach out to people across the state, spoke about Viksit Bharat Yatra (VBY) also flagged off its van at Miao, interacted with villagers, GoAP officials and urged them to ensure that all the eligible beneficiaries are registered to avail maximum benefit of various Govt welfare schemes.. He urged rural people to be active partners of state building.

Many major development projects have been taken up during last few years to accelerate progress, he said and advised GBs and PRI leaders to ensure proper implementation of any project.

At Miao, he advised the GoAP officials to reach out to every household for their participation to ensure success of VBY to make India a developed nation by 2047.He also administered VBY pledge to people at all three places.

At Gandhigram, maiden visit by head of the state, Parnaik said that road connectivity would serve as a boon and exhorted the villagers to be ready for development activities. He advised them to focus on tourism as the area boasts of huge potential for eco and adventure tourism.

He addressed a sainik sammelan at Vijoynagar and interacted with security forces and police personnel at Miao and urged them, particularly armed forces to remain  alert as situations across the border are not conducive and hone up their tactical and operational capabilities. He advised them to instil sense of security among local population. He also suggested them to encourage local youth to join Indian armed forces.

Local MLA-cum-Minister Kamlung Mosang and Changlang DC Sunny Singh briefed the governor about the development initiatives in Miao subdivision.

IGP (law & order) Chukhu Apa, UD commissioner Pawan Kumar Sain and Changlang SP Kirli Padu, among others, were present. (PRO)
