160 bags of waste removed in Yagamso clean-up drive

ITANAGAR, Dec 30: Yagamso River cleaning, organized by Youth Mission for Clean River (YMCR) and Abralow Memorial Multipurpose Society (AMMS) with support from Itanagar Smart City Development Corporation Limited, concluded it 2023 drive successfully on Saturday.

The combined efforts of members of Arunachal Photography Club, Siang District Students’ Union, AAPSU, Jarbom Gamlin Government Law College Students Union and RGU students, led by YMVR and AMMS, removed staggering 160 bags of garbage which were been blocking natural flow of the river.

While speaking in details about responsible waste disposal methods adopted during the drive, Yagamso River Rejuvenation Project coordinator Prem Taba said, “Legacy wastes (collected and kept for years at some barren land) were taken to Hollongi dumping ground, biodegradable items placed in nearby pits for decomposition while recyclables left for scrap dealers”,

He stressed on commitment of NGOs in achieving zero-waste in the river and urged one and all to remain steadfast to ongoing efforts to preserve and maintain cleanliness of rivers. Such collective efforts would ensure to keep all water bodies healthy for future generations according to a YMCR  release.
