Moyong dedicates double-lane steel arch Sibo Korong Bridge

PASIGHAT, Dec 30: The much awaited double-lane steel arch bridge over Sibo Korong River here was dedicating to Pasighat people, Bogong Banggo in particular, on Saturday by Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong.

The state-of-art bridge, executed by local  M/s Koje Janggo Enterprises through PWD, has footpath on both sides and proper approach road on both banks with protected walls, replaced the old single-lane bailey bridge, known as ‘English Bridge’ built in 1960s during the British rule. It used serve the people of Sibo, Mongku, Roing, Balek, Rasam, Tigra, Gunn and Roying villages.

The people of Mirku, Mirku-Dapi, Kelek-Mirbuk, Mirbuk, Mirsam, Napit, Diking, Yapgo and Boying villages on right bank of the river will also be connected and boost socio-economic condition of these rural villagers

Moyong, in his address, termed it very important as it would serve as the lifeline for all above villagers to facilitate their progress and lauded Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Dy CM Chowna Mein meeting aspirations of the people. But, he credited PRI members, GBs, senior citizens, youth, all engineers for its successful completion.

He also informed that the Inland Waterways authorities are being pursued through Union Minister Sarbananda, who visited Pasighat recently, to connect Pasighat with Dibrugarh through waterway.

Terming the new bridge as people’s asset, guest of honour East Siang DC Tayi Taggu said that all stakeholders should maintain it, while PWD EE Tani Taki said that it would facilitate smooth communication and have a life span of over 100 years. The Covid-19 pandemic delayed the project but completed now.

Bogong-I ZPM Tamut Tasung and Sibo-Korong Bridge Construction Committee chairman Bani Perme Basalung Jamoh also addressed host of dignitaries present.
