Lumla to host International Kayaking Champ from Feb 5

LUMLA, Jan 30: The picturesque Tawangchu River here is all set to host thrilling five-day Tawangchu Tides International Kayaking Championship from February 5 next. This event, supported by private sponsors, institutional backing and endorsement of Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju aims to position Arunachal Pradesh as a global hub for kayaking and host future global events.

Many kayakers after reaching Guwahati would travel to Lumla by driving through breathtaking Sela Pass located at 13,700 ft.

The event will feature a series of adrenaline-pumping races, including down river sprint, giant slalom and boater cross races. Kayakers will navigate downstream with breathtaking speed, manoeuvring through challenging slalom gates and showcasing their daring skill to spectators. The races will culminate with declaration of Champion Kayakers, who would excel in all three races, with final trophy to be presented by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
