WTP to feed 561 souls opens | MLA lauds PHE&WSD for executing toughest project

PULLONG, Feb 11: After dedicating a newly built water treatment plant (WTP) to the people here on Sunday, Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong termed it as one of the toughest and most challenging projects in the Tirap district.

Addressing the gathering, including DC i/ Tana Bapu, Borduria CO Yowa Anya, PHE&WSD EE Bharat Sonam, Kapu ZPM Wiram Matey, Nocte Women’s Association chairperson, PRI members, VWSC, GBs, chiefs and villagers, he said that the village lacked alternative water supply source which called for urgent implementation of this project. The WTP would ensure uninterrupted water supply to the villager, he said and appreciated the villagers for their cooperation with the department in executing the project and the department for executing the project on time reflecting its dedication to meet basic need of the community.

Highlighting about the project executed under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) at an estimated cost of Rs 4.91 crore, EE Sonam said that the works started in 2021 at the site near Kheti village, 24-km away from here, and would facilitate water supply to Pullong & Borduria CO HQs.

Moreover, the WTP generate 55,000 litres edible water a day and cater to 156 households comprising of 561 residents, he added. (DIPRO)
