West parliamentary constituency | CM’s advisor Tagak seeks ticket from Rijiju’s seat

ITANAGAR, Feb 11: Ahead of 2024 upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s advisor Tai Tagak said that “he is seeking a party ticket from parliamentary constituency of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and wants to contest from Arunachal West parliamentary seat. Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju is currently MP from the Arunachal West seat.

Speaking on the matter, Tagak told this daily on Saturday that “People are telling me that it will be good if you can represent Arunachal in the Parliament. People are telling me that it is high time I tell the party about my intention. Yes, I am in the fray for the candidate selection of the party. If the party leadership thinks me to be capable, then I shall take the challenge if the party leadership thinks that I am capable it up,” Tagak said.

On the question of Rijiju, Tagak said that he not against the union minister in any way. “I am not against him. Our Kiren ji is doing very good work. He has completed three to four terms and others should also get a chance. Our party has grown up, and there are lots of ticket aspirants. But party will give ticket to only one person. It is not like anything is bad about Kiren Rijiju or Tapir Gao. There is a process within the party, and I am also involved in it. It is not like they have to give me for sure, the party will decide that. I will agree to our party’s decision. If the party nominated me then I am ready to test the mood of the people,” he said.

Tagak further said that there is no question of leaving the party in case he does not get the ticket. “I have been a primary member of the BJP since 1995. This is my first and last party. It is not about coming or going. Everybody knows about it. There is a process of selection. If the leaderships want then I am ready to take part in the festival of democracy. I am not against anybody. It does not matter if I get ticket or not,” Tagak added.
