Dr Hahnemann remembered on WHD | Homoeopathy to remain always relevant: Dr Jini

NAHARLAGUN, Apr 11: The World Homoeopathy Day (WHD), organised by Arunachal Pradesh Homoeopathy Council (APHC), was celebrated at Directorate of Health Services (DHS) here on Wednesday with Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) director  Dr. Moji Jini has graced the occasion as chief guest.

Homeopathy, among various alternative systems of medicines, is one based on the theory of treating ‘like with like’. Though conceived in 1796 by German physician Samuel Hahnemann, it is equally relevant in present day with rising number of diseases and remain so for times to come, Dr Jini said, adding that for which the TRIHMS has a homeopathy unit.

Many preferred it being affordable, he said and lauded the APHC for organizing the event to pay tribute to a great physician.

Itanagar’s Donyi Polo Mission Charitable Homoeopathy Dispensary medical officer Dr. Animesh Mukherje, speaking as special guest, while highlighting genesis of homoeopathy said that initially treated the root cause of any disease, it has changed with passing time due to  new thought process of various tests for diagnosis and treatment. Dr Mukherje was also felicitated as one of the pioneer homoeopaths of the state, who joined service in early 1980s.

Joint director (medical education) Dr. Sopai Tawsik as guest of honour, DHS-cum-APHC president Dr. Riken Rina, TRIHMS SMO Dr.Pradip Debnath and APHC secretary-cum-registrar Dr. Mamang Dai also spoke.

The WHD is celebrated annually on April 10 to pay tribute to homoeopathy and its contribution to the world of medicine. The celebration of the WHD marks the birth anniversary of German physician Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy and raise awareness about homoeopathy and its potential benefits. The WHD theme for this 2024 was “Homeoparivar: One Health, One Family’.

Raj Baan dispensary medical officer Dr. Maga Rija Taba, first Ph.D holder in homoeopathy of the state, was felicitated in recognition of her academic excellence. She obtained her Ph.D (homoeopathy) from Jaipur University in Rajasthan on 13.04,23.

Day-long continuing medical education was conducted with Dr. Maga Rija Taba, Itanagar CGHS Wellness Centre medical officer Dr. Bendangyanger & NEHMCH principle Dr. K M Das as resources persons. While Dr Taba spoke on ‘Myths & Facts’, Dr. Bendangyanger spoke on ‘Hahnemann & holistic system of medicine’; Dr Das on ‘Role of Miasm or fundamental causes of diseases both acute & chronic in homoeopathy treatment’.
