Tama’s bail plea rejected

YUPIA, Apr 12: The District & Session Court here, after hearing bail petition of Tok Tama, accused in connection with death of Techi Neme Tok, despite registering strong protest from the family members, relatives and well-wishers, on Friday rejected his bail plea.

The court was satisfied with the investigation officer of the case who had filed a strong charge sheet against the accused person,  Techi said and lauded  the court’s decision, saying “We believe in the judicial system and expecting exemplary punishment to the accused to ensure justice to the departed soul. We are also against polygamy system as my sister was a victim.”

Another sister Techi Jerya urged women folk of the state to raise voice against polygamy system.

Neme was found dead in Lekhi village on March 21, which was termed as murder by the family members, who had lodged complaint with the police. Tama was arrested by Nirjuli police on March 22 u/s 306 IPC, who is still under police custody.
