Helping Hands run MGC to set up 1st counseling center for NE

ITANAGAR, Apr 30: The Mahatma Gandhi Center (MGC), run by NGO Helping Hands with Oppo Hibu as in-charge in Hong Village, near Lower Subansiri district HQs Ziro,  reachable at M: 8826004208, would set up first counseling center for North East states.

This is the outcome of an agreement signed by the Helping Hands with Counsel India and Medhavi Skill University, internationally recognized corporate organization, its founder president Robin Hibu told this daily on Tuesday, adding  painstaking struggles of numerous experiences of dealing with disturbed NE youth, many of whom ended their lives in distress contributed to this initiative.

Moreover,  there is abnormal rise  of mentally disturbed youth leading to disastrous, steps like suicide, alcoholism, drug addiction, depression, physically self harming in the NE states in last few years. In 2023, 4916 persons committed suicides of whom 85% are below 30 years of age. This prompted to conceive this idea, he said.

It may be mentioned here that the Helping Hands, founded in 2008, offers various services, including emergency and legal assistance, scholarships and raise awareness, offer scholarships of Rs three crore to IAS aspirant of NE.

Most importantly, the NGO working pan India comes to the rescue of NE students who are studying and those serving across the country. Thus, the counseling centre aims to guide GenNext, those struggling with mental health issues for their brighter tomorrow.
