Apply available technologies on the ground: Guv

ITANAGAR, Apr 30:  Governor Lt. General (Retd) KT Parnaik called upon scientists and officers of Planning, Science & Technology and Information Technology departments to ensure use of available technologies on the ground.

Interacting with the secretaries of above departments at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday, he stressed that farmers, construction agencies and others in need should have access to their data and information..

Parnaik, who is technology savvy, said that the state would benefit when its decision makers take informed decisions with the help of scientific data for planning and governance. He advised them to make their scientific data usable for project tp make them permanent and sustainable.

The district offices should get information directly from them on time for their planning and execution for which they should automate their data.

The scientists and IT officers should be futuristic in thinking and analysis to face challenges and disasters, he said while referring to road in Anini and flash flood in Sikkim. He called for a data based facility in planning department for monitoring and analyzing.

With optimum use of scientific data would have positive impact on agricultural products, enhance tourist footfalls and improve monitoring system, he said, adding monitoring is very important and critical for progress and prosperity, particularly for this state  as large numbers of infrastructure projects are in pipeline.

State Remote Sensing Application Centre director Dr. H. Dutta, in a PowerPoint presentation earlier, highlighted State Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Data Centre, Light Detection and Ranging Survey and Management Information systems.

Secretaries Repo Ronya (S&T), R.K. Sharma, (planning), Anirudh Saran Singh (IT) and APSAC deputy director CK Manglong, among others, were present. (PRO)
