People’s Observation | Is political interest behind illegal appointments

Sir,

Through the esteemed columns of your daily, I would like to highlight the truth behind illegal appointments which is the exchange of political interest among the candidates.

According to the latest disclosures, the number of employees illegally appointed in Arunachal Pradesh Public Health Engineering and Water Supply (PHE&WS) department has increased to 25, with most of them appointed to various WC posts in Changlang and Longding districts, and then they were transferred to Yachuli, Pasighat, Sagali, Naharlagun, Itanagar and Yupia.

Currently, the state has more than 300 casual employees who have been working in the sector for over 20 to 30 years. They have been waiting for regularization of their services for decades and are still pleading with the state Govt to solve their problem.

The PHE&WS department had appointed them illegally without issuing any formal orders, most of the appointees belong to Keyi Panyor district and have no work experience. Such appointments are not only the pursuit of current political interests by the elected members, but also very likely to exchange future political interests with current interests.

The All Arunachal Pradesh Public Health Engineering & Water Supply Workers’ Union (AAPPHEWSWU) has written to the chief secretary to lodge protest, saying that the department neither advertised to fill the vacant positions nor there was any DPC held. What is shocking is that some appointments were made in March last, received appointment notifications in early April amidst the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.

But, after so many months, the state Govt is yet to take any tangible steps. All are eager to known if there any ulterior motives and who were involved?

The AAPPHEWSWU has demanded cancellation of all illegal appointment orders and a probe by the SIC and threatened to resort to halt water supply state wide, if its demands are not met.

Yours sincerely
