RCML gifts pictorial glossary books to promote Idu Mishmi language

ROING, May 14:  The research team of Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH)’s Centre for Mother Languages (RCML) distributed pictorial glossary books of Idu Mishmi to Pen Drive Academy in presence of Lower Dibang Valley DC Soumya Saurabh and DDSE here on Monday.

Published by RCML under theme, “Iniya Ekobe Ahito Chicha Ahito Jichi”, thee three books are Jomey (Action Verbs), Thru (Numerals) and Ambre Ne Praa-a (Animals and Birds).  These books intended to encourage Idu Mishmi community children in learning and enriching vocabulary of their native terminologies.

Saurabh, in her address, urged RIWATCH to collaborate with SCERT and local literary societies to come up with more comprehensive books in native languages for students of different grades.

Appreciating the initiative of RCML research team, Pen Drive Academy principal Dr. Rasto Mena donated 10 copies of Idu Mishmi language books, titled NGA, published by it, to RIWATCH library.

The RCML has been extensively engaged in promoting and revitalizing vulnerable and endangered languages of Arunachal Pradesh. It conducts various programmes and activities to preserve and uphold the linguistic and cultural diversities of NE India states, Arunachal Pradesh in particular. As part of its mission to promote and revitalize mother languages, the RCML has completed certificate course on spoken Idu Mishmi language for first batch, according to a release.
