TCF: Komlighat gets refurbished look

PASIGHAT, May 27: East Siang district administration in collaboration with Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) organised a clean-up drive at the front of Siang River at Komlighat on Monday under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission and collected plastic wastes and other garbage of around 2.4 metric tons.

It was part of ‘The Himalayan Clean-up” (TCH)-2024 campaign against concerning plastic pollution in the Himalayan states and its harmful impact on its fragile ecology and water crisis.

The garbage collected was mostly water bottles, chips and various plastic packets which were later transported to Municipal Solid Waste Plant site.

“The TCH, initiated in 2018, is the biggest campaign for collective action our mountains have seen against plastic pollution and more than 35,000 individuals have joined the movement so far”, official sources said.

East Siang DC Tayi Taggu, SP Sachin Kr. Singhal, ASP Pankaj Lamba, PMC Chief and MEO Okiam Moyong Borang and Onam Lego, Smart City CEO Dr. Manjuli Komut along with more than 1,100 volunteers, including members of APDA, JNC, RRU, APU, PMA, Govt officers and officials, members of NGOs WASE & Mirmir Bulls actively took part in the drive.
